According to a study by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), it is expected that by 2020 the imports of sheep meat from the MENA region will continue to increase. This is mainly due to the following factors:
- Increase in domestic demand.
- Limitations on production growth in the region due to climatic factors.
- Increase in population and income.
To these incentives we must add that according to the latest forecasts the demand for food, including sheep meat, will be driven by the construction of 100 new hotels in Dubai and celebrations of events such as the World Expo 2020 (Dubai) or the World Cup FIFA 2022 (Qatar).
